SmartSoda products fulfill on the following WELL Feature Preconditions and Optimizations:

W02: Drinking Water Quality:

• This is a Precondition and required on WELL projects.
• SmartSoda can help you meet the following requirements:
  1. Our SmartSoda equipment provides drinking water dispenser(s) providing water that meets the following parameters:
     1. Arsenic ≤ 0.01 mg/L.
     2. Cadmium ≤ 0.003 mg/L.
     3. Chromium (total) ≤ 0.05 mg/L.
     4. Copper ≤ 2 mg/L.
     5. Fluoride ≤ 1.5 mg/L.
     6. Lead ≤ 0.01 mg/L.
     7. Mercury (total) ≤ 0.006 mg/L.
     8. Nickel ≤ 0.07 mg/L.
     9. Nitrate ≤ 50 mg/L as Nitrate (11 mg/L as Nitrogen).
     10. Nitrite ≤ 3 mg/L as Nitrite (0.9 mg/L as Nitrogen).
     11. Total chlorine ≤ 5 mg/L.
  2. Our SmartSoda drinking water dispensers provide water that meets the following parameters:
     1. Residual (free) chlorine that does not exceed 4 mg/L.
     2. The concentration of total trihalomethanes (TTHM, sum of dibromochloromethane, bromodichloromethane, chloroform and bromoform) is 0.08 mg/L or less.
     3. The concentration of haloacetic acids (HAA5, sum of chloroacetic, dichloroacetic, trichloroacetic, bromoacetic and dibromoacetic acids) is 0.06 mg/L or less.
• SmartSoda machines also meet the following requirements:
  1. Smart Soda dispensers provide water that meets thresholds for at least two pesticides and three organic contaminants listed under ‘Drinking Water Quality Report’.
  2. SmartSoda water is tested by a professional demonstrated not to have a conflict of interest with the WELL project. (Let’s discuss)

W04: Enhanced Water Quality-

• This is an Optimization (optional) and worth 1 point.
• SmartSoda units include filtration with carbon media and reverse osmosis.
• SmartSoda water meets the following thresholds:
  1. Aluminum ≤ 0.2 mg/L.2
  2. Chloride ≤ 250 mg/L.2
  3. Copper ≤ 1 mg/L.2
  4. Manganese ≤ 0.05 mg/L.
  5. Iron ≤ 0.3 mg/L.2
  6. Silver≤ 0.1 mg/L.2
  7. Sodium ≤ 270 mg/L.3
  8. Sulfate ≤ 250 mg/L.2
  9. Sulfide ≤ 0.05 mg/L.3
  10. Zinc ≤5 mg/L.2
  11. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) ≤ 500 mg/L.2
  12. Free Chlorine ≤ 1.25 mg/L.4

W06: Drinking Water Promotion-

Dispenser Availability:

• This is an Optimization (optional) and worth 1 point.
• Water delivered by the dispensers is directly piped through the building’s water supply or is stored in containers designed for refilling.
• SmartSoda units are designed for water bottle-refilling.

N02: Nutritional Transparency-

• This is a Precondition and required on WELL projects.

  Part 1: Provide Nutritional Information

• SmartSoda machines can ensure your project not only meets the sugar content per drink limit required by WELL, but it will clearly display the sugar content per serving at point-of-decision or adjacent signage.

Part 3: Label Sugar Content-

• SmartSoda can be customized to ensure your drinks do not contain more than 25 g of sugar per serving.
• The total sugar content for each standard Smart Soda item, as usually prepared and offered for sale, is provided so that it can be clearly displayed at the point-of-decision on menus and menu boards (in addition to calories as required in Part 1 of this feature).

N03.1: Refined Ingredients-

Part 1: Limit Total Sugars-

• This is an Optimization (optional) and worth 1 point.
• SmartSoda beverages sold or provided on a daily basis by (or under contract with) the project owner meet the following requirements:
  1. SmartSoda beverages do not contain more than 25 g of sugar per container or serving.

N05: Artificial Ingredients-

• This is an Optimization (optional) and worth 1 point.

Option 2: Artificial Ingredient Restriction

• • Organic SmartSoda water does not contain any of the artificial ingredients listed in the table below:

* Diet cola currently contains sucralose. In the future, we will be offering an alternative diet product lacking sucralose that will meet Feature N05.  Please see Nutritional Table or Product List for products that meet Feature N05.
